Honey Maple Granola

Honey Maple Granola

Store-bought granola is convenient, but it’s overpriced, over-sweetened, and often packed with fillers. Making it yourself is not only much cheaper, but also ridiculously easy and completely customizable.

You control the ingredients, the sweetness, the crunch, and the mix-ins. Whether you’re into maple-pecan, coconut-cashew, or just cleaning out the pantry, you get to call the shots. Once you try homemade, you won’t go back.

This batch cost me just $4.30 for 600g. At the grocery store, you’d easily pay $1.30 to $2.30 per 100g.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups quick oats

  • ½ cup pumpkin seeds

  • ½ cup chopped almonds

  • ⅓ cup walnuts or pecans

  • Pinch of salt

  • 4 tbsp honey

  • 3 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tbsp neutral oil (e.g., canola)

  • ⅓ cup dried cranberries

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large heat-resistant bowl, combine oats, pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts (or pecans), and a pinch of salt.

  3. In a small pot, heat the honey, maple syrup, and oil over medium heat until it just begins to boil.

  4. Pour the hot mixture over the oat mixture and stir well with a spatula to coat evenly.

  5. Spread the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet in an even layer.

  6. Bake for 20 minutes, stirring once halfway through.

  7. Remove from the oven, mix in dried cranberries, and bake for another 5 minutes.

  8. Let cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
